My name is Oliver Douglas and I am proud to be running for SRC Welfare Officer as part of the Connect team.

The past year has demonstrated the Connect team’s genuine commitment to student welfare. Our major actions include:

• Championing the AUU’s $1 million contribution to the University of Adelaide’s COVID-19 student support package
• Supporting the provision of welfare packs for 650 students
• Assisting the organisation of multicultural week – one of the largest events on campus this year!

We want the University of Adelaide to be an exciting, vibrant and sustainable campus for all students. As face-to-face teaching resumes, it is vital to restore campus culture while also continuing to cater for students who have been or continue to be impacted by COVID-19. I pledge to:

• Commit to holding monthly listening posts. Your SRC Welfare Officer should always be accessible
• Work with SAAUCC to support students at Adelaide’s residential colleges. These individuals have been hard hit by much-needed border closures and lockdown measures
• Aid the delivery of bigger and better events, support AUU and SRC initiatives and promote free services like the Breakfast Club
