Hi, I’m Liam Johns (He/Him) and I would like to represent you as Rural Officer for 2021.

As a rural student, I am all too familiar with the struggles we face when attending our university. Until recently, many of us have had no choice but to travel long distances to attend class and access the university’s services. Many of us have also had to relocate to Adelaide altogether with little-to-no financial assistance from the university.

I believe this is unfair.

If elected, I will endeavour to make our university more accessible for rural students. I will do this by advocating for the university to maintain and improve online options for many of their services and classes post-COVID-19. I will ensure this is done in a way which not only helps rural students, but also guarantees these changes are not used as an excuse to further negatively impact staff. Finally, I will also campaign for the university to provide more financial support to rural students so as to reduce the burdens we face. 

I would be honoured to serve as your Rural Officer and work towards these changes.
