Being an international student comes with a unique set of challenges that many locals may not always understand, therefore, it would take a certain level of strength and persistence to ensure our voices are not only heard but listened to.

What have we, as progress done so far?

1) We advocated for the PNG (pass non graded) & WNF (withdraw not fail) to be put in place so student’s GPA's wouldn’t be affected by classes moving online.

2) We put together a support package for international students that couldn’t receive job keeper.

3) Advocated for FREE visa extensions for international students.

But what will I do?

  1. Extend the PNG and WNF for semester 2!
  2. Stop the implementation of invigilated exams for semester 2 exams to avoid added stress.
  3. Work towards ensuring international students stuck overseas are able to return to Adelaide to commence onshore studies.
  4. Assume responsibility over ensuring all international students are provided EQUAL internship opportunities as domestic students.

Being an International student officer for me is more than being the messenger, it’s about being a support system, a voice and an advocate for the many international students that call Adelaide home.
