Candidate for the position of SRC Environment Officer

Before university even begun, Left Action candidates organised a mass rally of 10,000 people to protest against the destructive policies that led to the massive bushfires last summer. This is because we believe that the only effective way to make change as students is to organise collectively and build mass movements on the ground. That’s why we’ve fought every injustice on campus or off all year. We’re fighting back against the cutting of 200 staff at the university while the SRC has supported it, candidates of ours were part of organising the two massive Black Lives Matter rallies this year, and we’ve continued to fight around the environment, organising university student contingents to the School Strike for Climate events. Now summer is around the corner again and we need fighting unions to confront what could be another season of environmental disaster. We’re facing so many challenges: the health crisis, the economic crisis, the attacks to university education, and impending climate disaster. If I get elected as environment officer, I’ll fight for the union to take up these fights instead of being suck ups to the administration. I’ll put SRC recourses towards building protests, that engage as many students as possible. https://leftactionadelaide.com/
