Blake Lawrenson

Hello, my name is Blake Lawrenson, a first year Law and Economics student, and as your general councillor, I shall work tirelessly to improve our collective experience as students of Adelaide Uni and strive to be a representative that is accessible for all.

In office, I will advocate for protection and expression of free speech across the political spectrum and work to be part of an SRC which takes real action on its resolutions, rather than empty gestures, while hoping to reduce the toxicity that is well known to be present in stupol (which at times feels like the ‘stu’ stands for stupid).

I will push for the scrapping and removal of the Confucius Institute at the University due to its links with the authoritarian regime of Xi Jinping and the CCP.  The University should not allow the presence of agents of such governments and I will not stop until its presence on campus is gone.

I will also argue for the abolition of the SSAF which places financial burdens on students for services that they may never access in their time at university and which students have no real control over use.
