Hi, I am Blake Ansell, and I am running for Activate to be your SRC General Councilor 

Students today face more challenges than ever, and with the merger fast approaching it looks to be cutting the overall quality of courses and putting our educators' jobs at risk. If there’s anything we don’t need more of, it’s uncertainty. The uncertainty the merger provides our university is either coated in ignorance or willful deception and it takes our education for granted. YouX has been cutting back on the support available for students through pulling resources away from the free breakfast program and commodifying the idea of free lunches through their membership. These lunches are infrequent, and in a cost-of-living crisis, funds should be going towards free food programs not away.  

If elected I will be a voice for all students. I will call for increased support services for first generation students, greater transparency regarding the impact the merger will have on our university, increased assistance to help students deal with the cost-of-living crisis, expanding free food programs, and help make the University a safer space for all students.
