I’m Bri and I’m running for Social Justice Officer with Left Action. I’ve been involved in setting up the Gaza Solidarity Encampment last semester and organising the Student General Meeting to demand the university divest from Genocide. 

Left Action activists have been throwing their all into the Palestine solidarity movement in Adelaide but we are also involved in many left-wing actions against oppression. For instance we organised the protests against the transphobe Posie Parker and for abortion rights when Roe V Wade was overturned in the US. 

Young people taking action is crucial to opposing oppression, we are seeing inspiring instances of students fighting for their rights across the globe from Bangladesh to Kenya. Students in Australia must stand in solidarity with these struggles and take inspiration to fight here against Duttons appalling anti-migrant rhetoric and the growing far-right who are organising against LGBTQIA+ events.

Social Justice means organising the student body to oppose bigotry and inequality wherever it might arise, on or off campus. The SRC should not stay silent on the Genocide in Gaza, the normalisation of an ethnic cleansing can only help racists everywhere- Free Palestine!
