Hey, I’m El, I’m a history student and a socialist activist with Left Action. Students are living through multiple crisis from the climate crisis, the genocide in Gaza, and cost of living. Instead of contributing positively to these issues our university only thinks of lining its own pockets.

The University of Adelaide has deep ties with the war industry. This industry profits from destruction, and I think it should have no place in our education. That’s why I’ve been involved in organising activism against these ties including setting up the Gaza Solidarity Encampment and calling the Student General Meeting for Palestine.

I think our student union should be a body for student activism to fight against injustices in the world instead of a place to cosy up to management. Especially when the university is pushing through a merger. The Merger is an excuse for university management to further corporatise our education, and they’re already floating proposals such as mandatory trimesters which will increase staff workload and decrease our quality of education.

As SRC president I will organise a student fightback against these measures and for all left-wing causes that affect students.

VOTE [1] Left Action for a fighting student union!
