Hi I’m Leon and I’m running Environment Officer with Left Action. I’ve been involved in organising the Gaza Solidarity Encampment and the Student General Meeting on campus this year. 

We advocate for all forms of justice—whether it's equality, a free Palestine, or climate justice. The Labor government has failed to take meaningful action on climate change and continues to approve new coal mines. Meanwhile, the University of Adelaide continues to host climate criminals like Santos and even has a ‘Santos Petroleum’ Engineering building. This is unacceptable, especially as global temperatures have risen above 1.5 degrees, climate disasters are escalating, and millions of people are already displaced.

That's why we organised the protest that led to the cancellation of the Santos careers event on campus last year. The university must sever all ties with climate and war criminals. We demand no defence and fossil fuel executives on our University Council and no research partnerships with them! The SRC should take up this struggle and act as an activist body that stands up for all the oppressed.
