I'm looking for a kind, sensible university student/retired person to spend evening time with my (very nice) mother in a care place in North Adelaide. They need to have native (or near) English for cognitive reasons. She has some dementia and it would be ideal if anybody replying had a Humanities background, though not essential. She is an ex-senior teacher and strong on literature, Classical History, language and theatre. She LOVES reading, fiction and biography and it would be an asset if you do too. She was sporty back in the day. There is no care involved as the staff do that, it is just company.
Some of the following are likely during an evening: a chat, a crossword, movie, Scrabble, reading aloud, general knowledge quiz. Although she rarely watches TV, we do look at the more serious quizzes sometimes, like Jeopardy.
My mother has nice quarters, a cozy separate lounge room with TV and kitchenette.
Ideally I'd like somebody who could do 4 sessions/week. 2.5 hours between 6pm (not earlier for RAT as my mother won't be ready until 6.30) and 9pm leaving, so there's a bit of flexibility as to start time. It is compulsory to do a RAT when entering and so I'm paying half an hour for the entering procedure.
*It is a requirement to have up-to-date flu and covid shots and proof of it, to enter the building.
