KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
Many of our camp participants will experience Australia, its culture and people for the first time during their participation in our Public Speaking Camps. Camp counselors are expected to exhibit a high standard of professionalism, maintain boundaries, adhere to safety guidelines and demonstrate Australian culture in a positive, welcoming and engaging fashion.
Work Location
Location: University of Adelaide and Online, as well as other university sites around Australia (doc link above)
Airport Transfer
Pick up and send off camp participants from and to the Airport.
Afternoon Sightseeing/Excursions
Lead camp afternoon excursions for small group of high school students (15-20 students per group) in and around the camp location
Supervise students on coach buses and train during excursions.
Research fun facts and information about the excursion site and share them with groups for 10 – 15 minutes before the excursion begins.
Facilitate scavenger hunt games during afternoon excursions, brief camp participants on purpose of the games, games duration, starting/finishing point, and tasks that they will be required to complete; assign teams a score at the end of the games.
Ensure safety and security of campers during excursions.
Evening Team Building Activities
Work with other Camp Counselors and camp staff to organize evening games and activities for English camp participants. Evening activities included in the programme schedule include Trivia Night, Movie Night, Games Night, and Birthday Bash among others.
Create educational, team-oriented and fun activities that will engage camp participants and allow them to bond with other students.
Welcome & Finale Night
Responsible for games, activities, stage decoration and catering set up for Welcome and Finale Night .
Assist students prepare and rehearse for their speech and performance at the Finale night.
Work Hours
Onsite orientation: half day - 1 day.
Arrival and Departure Day: half day
Weekdays: half day, afternoon excursions (1-5pm).
Weekend: full day excursion ( 10am - 5pm)
Evening: twice/week (6-7pm)
Finale Night: 7-9pm.
Online Session
For online programmes, work hours are 1 hour and 30 minutes only.
Specific roles will be assigned by the Manager during the orientation
Session will be held via Zoom. You may be asked to prepare a simple PPT slide or presentation.
