Chess Mates delivers fun, engaging lessons at childcare centres, primary schools and high schools, using chess to help students develop problem-solving skills, cognitive thinking, and emotional intelligence. We focus less on the need to win, and more on the enjoyable, overall experience of learning, interacting well with others, and doing your best, while still providing all the knowledge and technical skills that allow students to improve at chess. Chess Mates has a goal of teaching 1 million children how to play by 2030.

Chess Mates is currently in the process of expanding therefore, we are now looking for teachers in Adelaide, particularly Southern and Central suburbs.
About the role:
There’s no need to be a chess expert! What matters more is your enthusiasm for teaching and your willingness to learn. We require ENERGETIC teachers with the ability to motivate, entertain, and inspire children to play chess. Experience tutoring primary or high school students is highly desired.
Lesson plans are provided, and we’ll work with you to find classes that suit your schedule. Morning, lunch and afternoon sessions, Monday to Friday are available. Do a great job, and we’ll give you more shifts.
You will be teaching chess to children mainly between 5-12 years of age. The role requires you to build successful partnerships with various schools, providing leadership and supervision to students to ensure lesson plans and expectations are safely adhered to.
A Working with Children Check and full RRHAN-EC (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect) are preferred at time of application, though not essential. However, these will be needed before work can commence. A car and drivers license is also preferred.
