We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Math Tutor to provide high-quality tutoring sessions that foster student learning, confidence, and academic growth. The tutor will work with students individually and in small groups, tailoring instruction to meet diverse needs and supporting them in developing independent learning skills. Teaching resources are provided; tutors are expected to follow these resources to deliver the sessions effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
Record and maintain accurate student attendance for each session.
Engage actively with students for the full 60 or 90 minute session.
Mark and provide feedback on student classwork, homework, and tests.
Plan and deliver individualised tutoring sessions based on each student’s prior knowledge, learning needs, and areas requiring support.
Use differentiated exercises and activities to enhance student progress in Math.
Facilitate students’ understanding and application of new concepts, providing ongoing formative feedback throughout sessions.
Ensure that every student has the opportunity to work one-on-one with the tutor during the session.
Prepare and deliver termly progress reports for parents/caregivers at the end of each term.
Support students in developing independent study skills, a growth mindset, and self-confidence in their ability to learn Math.
Qualifications & Skills:
Strong knowledge of Math concepts and teaching strategies.
Ability to assess student needs and adapt instruction accordingly.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and fluent English skills.
Organisational skills for planning, marking, and reporting.
Commitment to fostering a positive and encouraging learning environment.
Comply with DHS Working With Children Check.
Hold a current National Police Clearance check.
Be an Australian resident, with an Australian birth certificate, residency permit, or current work visa.
Work Conditions:
Tutoring sessions take place on Saturday or Sunday.
Students range from Reception to Year 9.
Sessions are delivered in blocks of 60 or 90 minutes.
Location: Burnside, South Australia.
