Higher Degrees by Research (HDR) can be both highly rewarding and challenging.
During a candidature spanning two to four years (or longer) students may face a circumstance that prevents them from performing to their full potential.
Student Care can offer independent advice and support on a range of issues, including relationships with your supervisor, issues around academic progress which might impact or trigger a potential termination of candidature, accommodation issues, referrals to specialist services, or to talk confidentially regarding the challenges specific to your candidature. As your designated support person, we can also attend meetings with you as needed.
If you are in financial hardship there may be a loan or grant suitable to your need or study-related cost (e.g. attending a conference that you are presenting at).
The Adelaide Graduate Research School has a number of great online resources including the Research Student Handbook, expert advice on candidature milestones, and all the application forms relating to your candidature that you may need.
You are welcome to book an appointment with an EWO to discuss what support is available for you at Student Care.
