The Assessment for Coursework Policy outlines the University’s expectations and procedures in relation to assessment (including examinations) for all coursework students. This policy specifically outlines information in relation to setting assessment types, tasks and weightings, examinations, assignment extensions and adjustments, marking and dealing with complaints (amongst other things).
Primary Exams
If you sit formal exams with the University of Adelaide you need to be aware of the current Policies.
The current Information and Rules in relation to Examinations outline the requirements for examinations in relation to examination sessions, examinations scheduling, clashing examinations, inability to attend exams, permitted and non-permitted materials in examinations and status of mobile phone use along with Academic Integrity requirements.

Replacement Exams
For current information about the process and application forms to apply for a replacement exam where eligibility criteria are met, please see https://www.adelaide.edu.au/student/exams/assessment-applications
During the Primary Examination
Students who become ill on the way to or during the exam must notify an exam invigilator at the venue and apply for a replacement exam. You will need a notification from the Invigilator at the exam to attach to your application for a replacement exam. This will verify the time you left the exam and assist in assessing your eligibility for a replacement exam. Additionally, Section 2 of the MACA Form needs to be completed in consultation with your health professional and submitted to your Faculty.
It is important to know that if you sit the primary exam you will not be eligible for a replacement exam unless an issue arose during the exam and you made an exam supervisor aware before 50% of the exam time had lapsed.
All requests must be on the ‘Application for Replacement Examination or Assessment Extension’ form as a Medical Certificate on its own will not be acceptable.
Be aware of the following:
Before the Primary Examination
"Modified arrangements will not be granted for minor ailments, travel, employment, family, customary, sport or leisure commitments, problems with balancing workloads or normal exam stress or anxiety" (see section 1 of the Modified Arrangements for Coursework Assessment (MACA) Policy). The full MACA Policy is available here.
"Students who submit an application for a Replacement Examination at least 3 business days before the date of the Primary Examination, will be notified of the outcome of the application at least 24 hours before the Primary Examination" (section 7 of the Policy)
