Casual Vacancy: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island Officer
Role Description
The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island Officer is responsible for the representation and advocacy of all students who identify as being Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. The officer will advocate on behalf of students who identify as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island through liaising with the University, running campaigns, or through any other means as decided by the member. They are a voting member of the Student Representative Council (SRC) and have the same rights and responsibilities as other members.
Eligibility
To be eligible, applicants must identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.
Role requirements
The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island Officer will be required to submit a report every second meeting of the SRC (meetings are held fortnightly). Meeting attendance at the fortnightly meetings of the SRC during the academic year is also required.
As a regular member, the officer may also be asked to volunteer at SRC events or to assist other members in their campaigns.
