What inspired you to engage with the office and role(s) you currently hold?
The student union is becoming an afterthought to many. I am hoping, in such a crucial time in the university's history, to remind students why these structures are an important aspect of the university experience. The primary concern of YouX should be advocating for and representing students to create a collective environment of success and opportunity.
What do you hope to achieve in your office and role(s) in 2022-23?
My priority is in having the board recognise the true feelings and concerns of students about looming issues such as the merger, and hopefully using any power I have in my position to represent these issues loudly and without a filter.
What is your number one tip for a new student?
Go on campus as often as you can. You will be more engaged and gain the most out of classes when you embrace the social experience uni has to offer.
What is something—big or small—that you are really good at?
Being honest. I value honesty and I understand it's functional purpose in negotiations and matters of disagreement/argumentation.
What one thing do you wish you had known when you started Uni?
Put effort in even for those classes that seem easy or boring. You will thank yourself later when you get to the harder classes, and first year classes are the easiest way to make new friends for your time at university.
What would we most likely find you doing on the weekend?
Playing cricket, reading a book, or learning some maths.
